Snow Day Things

I like to do all sorts of things on snowy days but here’s a list of my top 5 and why I like them.

1.Skating

I like skating(although I’m not good at it) because it’s just fun. I like gliding on the ice and racing with my sisters to see who can reach the end of the rink first. One time my dad tried to teach me and my sisters how to skate backwards and we all tried and failed. I ended up flying backwards and landing on my back.

  1. Sledding

I like sledding because I like drifting down snow hill, while going really, really fast.I like sledding with my friends and my sisters and racing down the hills to see who can gets to the bottom first.

  1. Baking

I like baking with my sisters because it’s fun and you get to eat what you make. Normally we have hot chocolate with whatever we bake when we eat it.

  1. Snowball fights

Who doesn’t like a good snowball fight? I always have them with my sisters and we never do teams it’s always every man for themselves. I always win but sometimes I let my sisters win just to make them feel like they aren’t totally losing.

  1. Building forts

Me and my sisters ALWAYS build forts every winter. It’s like a tradition in our house. One time me and my sister built a MASSIVE fort in our backyard that took up all of our backyard.

I hope you found something to do the next time we have a snow day.

My Dogs

Hi, today I’m going to be telling you about my dogs. My dogs’ names are Rocky and Maizy and they are the absolute best dogs in the world. Rocky is a rottweiler-shepherd-husky mix and me and my family have no idea what kind of dog Maizy is. When me and my sisters ask my mom what kind of dog she is, my mom always says she’s a rare breed called an anxiety dog because Maizy has bad anxiety. Whenever she gets nervous she starts shaking like she’s really cold. Rocky is just the weirdest dog ever. He barks at people he sees all the time and then when they give him pets he basically give in, but they always make us smile and laugh at their stupidity. I also have a VERY fat cat named Richard and we call him Rick or Ricky, stuff like that, but he’s a story for another day. I remember when we had first gotten Maizy, me and my older sister, Stephanie, were walking to my back door where my mom was sitting with Maizy on a leash. Stephanie ran over to Maizy and immediately started petting her. Me on the other hand, I stopped and started pouting. My mom asked me what was wrong and I cried saying I don’t want a puppy, but as usual I was wrong and I love Maizy. When we had gotten Rocky it was my dad’s birthday. Rocky wasn’t exactly a birthday present but a present for all of us. My mom had just gotten back from the shelter, and nobody knew what she had in store. When she came through the door rocky was covered up in a little plaid blanket. We were told to sit down on the floor in a circle and we did as we were told. When Rocky was in our circle and we had all had a chance to pet him, we started thinking of names. We went through names like Dragon, or Goofy, stuff like that, before finally landing on Rocky. Rocky has made life interesting, like when he goes through our garbage and escaping into the cow fields with Maizy(Although its mostly Rocky)Ever since then Rocky and Maizy have been a HUGE part of my life and they always will. I hope you liked my dog stories and hope this inspires you to get a dog.

Where I’m From Poem

By Katelyn Proulx

I am from the thump of the string, the shut of an eye, the pull back and let go.

From the cling of the metal, the swing of my leg, up and over.

From Rocky and Maizy, escaping, thumping in the corn and cows, exploring.

I am from the click of the button, the whir of the TV, the flash to life.

From the bright red, orange, yellow, the crunch under my boots, the rake of the rake.

From the flip of the page, the softness of the cover, the creases on the binding.

From the flips, twists, and tumbling I used to do.

From watching orange and purple streaking across the sky on the pieces of would strung with rope.

I am from peeking through tree branches, waiting to be caught by Livi or Bella.

From the moving of the joystick, the whirring of the cars, the laughs of everyone in the room.

From tutus, leaps and twirls I did as a little kid.

From the four wheels driving over, the mud, the rocks, the grass.

From the tide coming in and out, seaweed licking my feet, spraying me with salty liquid.

From the wizard who started my love for books and magic, the wizard who fought with magic, strength, comedy, and knowledge.

From the demigod who changed my whole world, the demigod who saved the world
